TO BE A DESIGNER is to find and create beauty in the subtleties, the unexpected and the everyday. I attempt to meld two philosophies in my work: the necessity of clarity to easily convey a message through minimal elements and space with the urge to provoke the senses through vivid imagery and color.
The job of a designer is to stop a passerby in their footsteps, to make them stumble, stop and stare.
In that brevity of contact with the viewer there is precise and thought-provoking comprehension. However, no message should be spoon-fed, but instead cause the audience to inquire further, to research the subject, or simply to anticipate an enlightening new perspective.
I have always been interested in communication first and foremost, the love of debate and inquiry. In our world of information, it amazes me that we still struggle to communicate that information effectively and easily. Coupled with my lifelong interest and experience in art and design, I found the field of graphic design to be the best seat in the house from which to pursue that which widens eyes and opens minds.
